On the front, we don’t expect too much expansion. With the launch of the William Hill Sports Book at Tropicana Casino, there is just two candidates left in Atlantic City to launch books. One, Hard Rock Casino, we expect to go live with a retail book this year, as Hard Rock has already signed a Letter of Intent with Gambling Innovation Group for an omni-channel sportsbook platform.
As mentioned, Freehold Raceway, owned by Penn National Gaming and Greenwood Gambling (owner of Parx Casino in Pennsylvania) is also a prime candidate to go into the land-based sports betting realm.
On the online front, there’s much more space to maneuver as each sports gambling license holder is entitled to three branded websites, or skins. Some, such as Monmouth Park and Resorts AC, have already debuted two skins, but a lot of others, such as heavyweights Tropicana, Hard Rock Casino, and Golden Nugget, have not launched any. Anticipate multiple AC-branded online sportsbooks to pop up at the not-so-distant future, and for other companies like the Kindred Group (now adapting with Hard Rock Casino) and Australian-based PointsBet (partnered with the Meadowlands) to also launching online books in New Jersey.

New Jersey does not cover an ethics fee to professional sports leagues in exchange for league and data oversight, nor will it likely ever.

Just a few weeks later, New Jersey passed a brand new sports betting bill, also in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Monmouth Park sportsbook on June 14, 2018, the industry was born.Today, it thrives.
